Crafted comfort for people with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
'Remembering Galway, Ireland' Memory / Fidget Blanket.
“Life is like a tapestry, woven from memories of people and events. Your unique tapestry reminds you of who you are, where you've been and what you've done.”
Sadly, Alzheimer's disease gradually takes these memories.
As loved ones’ age, it becomes increasingly important that they live in the present, in a way that preserves the essence of who they are. Providing elders with comfort, warmth and activity improves quality of life and helps them to relax and enjoy treasured memories of a life lived to the fullest.
This 24” lap blanket is light, warm and comforting. The colours are misty morning blues. This blanket remembers Galway and some of the more familiar places sure to evoke memories and stories to recall of times past. There are photos of The Claddagh, looking across to The Long Walk, Salthill Promanade, Shop Street and The famous Salmon Weir Bridge. Center in the quilt is Galway's famous statue of Padraig O'Connaire, who no longer resides in Eyre Square but in the museum. There are also items to twiddle or fidget with such as a wooden peg and ring, velcro fastening ribbon, a tassel and a textured pad.
This blanket supports conversation by people visiting.
These memory support blankets can be personalized using your own photos of people, places or pets.
