~ Alzheimer's and Memories ~
The Enchanted Garden
“Life is like a tapestry, woven from memories of people and events. Your unique tapestry reminds you of who you are, where you've been and what you've done.”
Sadly Alzheimer's disease gradually takes these memories.
As loved ones age, it becomes increasingly important that they live in the present, in a way that preserves the essence of who they are. Providing elders with comfort, warmth and activity improves quality of life and helps them to relax and enjoy treasured memories of a life lived to the fullest.
This Memory Support Blanket is whimsical, depicting flower fairies. These fairies live in the flowers and have done so for many, many years. They are the subject of much folklore and many stories. Generations have grown up to love them. These photos provide a point of contact and conversation where the recipient can reminisce, as well as providing warmth and comfort. In the center there is a single pink rose (Silk flower ~ removable) which surely holds a hundred memories!
If you are caring for a loved one who has Alzheimer’s, you can help him or her cope with the onset of a memory loss by creating a tangible bank of memories. These blankets are 24" square and are backed with soft fleece. Ideal for on top of bed, sitting out or in a wheelchair.
