Our Exploring Textures busy book page combines two of the most important early learning skills in one beautifully tactile activity. Children explore four different textures - each one distinct and interesting to touch - while also learning to identify four key shapes: square, circle, triangle and heart.
Sensory exploration is one of the most natural ways young children learn about the world. By touching different textures and tracing the outlines of shapes, toddlers build the vocabulary, concentration and sensory awareness that lays the groundwork for early maths and literacy.
Each shape panel uses a different fabric texture, so there's always something new to discover. Simple enough for very young toddlers, engaging enough to keep older children coming back.
Made entirely by hand from soft felt and a variety of fabrics in our workshop on the Wild Atlantic Way in the west of Ireland.
